Power Outtage!

Josh comes home tonight after being away for basically 2 weeks. (He was home for a day last weekend but I was working, so I didn't see him much.) I have dinner in the crock pot so it'll be ready when he gets in. I'm so tired of being here by myself. We had the horrible wind that blew through knocking out our power and ridding us of some shingles from the roof on Sunday. We didn't get any rain out of it - just a bunch of wind all day. I was super lucky because my power was out only 3.5 hours and there were people in town that didn't have power for 3+ days. If it were me, I would have been stuck at home because I don't know if I could have gotten my garage door open to get my car out - not that I had anywhere I needed to go besides work. Just my luck that those kinds of things happen to me when I'm home alone!

In "Tyler News", I've been getting up at 5/5:30 every morning this past week. I think Tyler might be getting another tooth and it's gotta be a real doozie or he's getting a bunch at once, because he's been not-so-fun at night. Last night he woke up at 11:30 after going to bed around 9:30 (with 22 oz of milk in his belly, so I know he wasn't hungry) I gave him some motrin and brought him to bed with me = not very restful sleep for me! He didn't seem to sleep well - he kept crying out and tossing around. Oh well - hopefully this will pass soon!

One Shade Done!

I made the first of my two shade this afternoon. Tyler took a really looooong nap today - I actually woke him up after 3 hours so he'll sleep tonight. Anyway - It's not completely done because I have one or two seams to redo so that it raises straight. Right now, one side is slightly higher than the other. I'll take a picture and post either when I get this one fixed, or the other one stitched up.

Josh was home for a little while this weekend before heading back out into the world. He got back from Cleveland on Friday at about 8:00pm and left again EARLY (5:00am) Sunday morning. Unfortuately I had to work Saturday, so I didn't even get to see him very much. He went to some trapper training north of Fort Wayne with a couple other guys from work and will be back sometime late Saturday. Then I get to have him home for two weeks before he heads back to Cleveland for another week - hopefully for his last week up there.

Tyler got his first molar sometime over the past week - it's on the lower right. I don't know exactly when it arrived, because it was the last place I was expecting his next tooth. Until this tooth, he had two on bottom and four on top. So, he essentially has a two-tooth gap in his mouth. I suppose the others won't be too far behind!

eBaying

I've been doing some eBaying lately. It had been awhile since I bought anything on there (about 2 years). Not too long ago, I bought a bike seat to put on the back of my old Bianchi road bike. It already has braze-ons to mount the rack to, so it was really easy to install. I haven't taken it out on the road just yet - only took Tyler for a little ride around the yard.

Most recently I won an auction for 6 dress outfits for Tyler this fall. They are all 24 months, so I'm hoping they aren't going to be too terribly large when it comes time to wear them this winter. I might have to hem up the pants, but for the price I paid, I can't complain about a little bit of sewing to make my little man look good.

My last purchase was a pair of jeans for 9.xx - I've gained a little weight over the summer and now my jeans don't fit me anymore. They didn't fit me too well after I lost almost all of my baby weight, but they certainly don't fit me now that I gained 10 of the pounds back! I just hope I didn't gain more than two pant sizes! I need to get motivated to loose the weight... well, motivated enough to actually go to the Y and stick with a workout plan - not to mention cutting out the "bad" food (like the brownie I had after dinner tonight - but they taste sooooo good!) Perhaps only having one pair of jeans with the prospect of fitting back into the previous 3 pairs will keep me going! Hopefully you'll see more blogging on weight loss instead of more blogging about eBay purchases for bigger clothing!

Thought I'd try this out!

I get the privlige of being able to keep up with everyone else's lives via blogging, so I thought I'd give it a try so everyone else can keep up with us! We don't lead terribly exciting lives except for our toddler, Tyler, who is currently 13.5 months old. He is pretty much what my day is all about when I'm home from work. Now that he is getting a little older and can pretty much entertain himself for extended periods of time, I'm looking forward to getting back into some of my hobbies.

The first one is playing piano. Josh and a few friends had the distinct "pleasure" of helping me move in a free piano. It's nothing to look at and some of the keys are missing the ivory veneer (not to mention it is pretty out of tune), but hey - it was FREE! I'm excited to teach Tyler how to play when he gets a little older. He already shows interest, but I think it's because the keys are like buttons that make sounds when you press them.

Another hobby I'll be diving into is some sewing. I got tired of the curtains in my dining room, so I'm going to turn the panels into roman shades. I have the supplies on order, so hopefully this sewing project turns out okay. I'm not a very good seamstress, but the website/pattern said that it's very simple - all you need to do is sew in a straight line, which I can do!
